There are many tools available that will do detailed valuation, and the issue often is the "detailed" part. Sellers don't have all the information to hand, don't understand all the quirks of the data, the way it needs to be added to the tool - or they just don't have time.

Initially at least, this level of ceremony is not necessary. When a potential buyer first sees a potential company, they will do a back of the envelope calculation to see if the seller is realistic.

It can return an indicative valuation tier between £1m and £20m+, flag the deal-blockers an acquirer's advisers will surface during due diligence, and benchmark the business against sector and lifecycle-phase peers. The underlying valuation methodology is shown in full, covering EBITDA multiples, adjustment factors and confidence ratings, so the user can see exactly how each figure was derived rather than taking the headline number on trust.

A buyer wants to deal with a realistic business owner; a seller needs to be prepared to defend their valuation. This tool gives a seller that insight.
